What a C2PA checker can verify

The report reads supported manifest claims, signer and generator information, actions and related AI provenance. A valid credential supports a provenance claim; it does not prove that the pictured event is true.

Content Credentials checker vs. a plain EXIF viewer

This Content Credentials checker reads the C2PA manifest specifically | signer, generator and edit assertions. For everything else stored in the file (camera EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP), use the general-purpose EXIF and metadata viewer instead; both are read-only.

No credentials is an inconclusive result

Platforms and editors may strip a manifest. An absent or unsupported credential means no readable claim survived in this file, not that the image is original.

No. It reads supported metadata in your browser and does not rewrite the selected file.
Can this checker detect SynthID?
No. SynthID is an in-pixel signal, not a readable C2PA metadata field.
