Short answer: AI metadata means the C2PA / Content Credentials manifest, the IPTC DigitalSourceType tag, and Stable Diffusion / ComfyUI generation parameters embedded in a file. AI Remover Pro removes all of these in your browser. Choose AI-only mode to keep your real camera EXIF. Invisible pixel watermarks such as Google SynthID cannot be removed by any metadata tool.

What counts as “AI metadata”

  • C2PA / Content Credentials — a signed manifest embedded by tools like Adobe Firefly, DALL·E and others. It's the usual trigger for automatic “Made with AI” labels on social platforms.
  • IPTC DigitalSourceType — the trainedAlgorithmicMedia value marking an image as AI-generated.
  • Stable Diffusion / ComfyUI — the full prompt, seed, sampler and model stored in a PNG parameters text chunk.
  • Midjourney & others — job/prompt data carried in EXIF/XMP.

AI-only mode keeps your real photo data

Switch to AI-only mode to remove just the AI-provenance markers (C2PA, XMP AI fields, IPTC source type, PNG parameters) while preserving legitimate camera EXIF, GPS and copyright. Use Full clean when you want everything gone.

SynthID and invisible watermarks

Google's SynthID is not metadata — it's woven into the pixels and survives resizing, cropping and format conversion. No metadata remover (including this one) can remove it. We flag AI markers so you understand what remains.

How to remove AI metadata from an image

  1. Drop your AI-generated JPEG, PNG, WebP or HEIC onto AI Remover Pro.
  2. Select AI-only to keep camera data, or Full clean to remove everything.
  3. C2PA, AI XMP/IPTC tags and generation parameters are stripped in your browser.
  4. Download the cleaned image.

Frequently asked questions

Will this remove the Instagram / Facebook 'Made with AI' label?
Those labels are largely driven by C2PA metadata, which this tool removes. Platforms may also use other signals; we can't guarantee label removal, and invisible watermarks like SynthID remain.
Can I keep my camera EXIF but remove AI tags?
Yes — choose AI-only mode. It removes C2PA, AI XMP fields, IPTC source type and generation parameters while keeping EXIF, GPS and copyright.
Do you remove Stable Diffusion prompts from PNGs?
Yes. The prompt/seed/model stored in the PNG 'parameters' text chunk is removed.
Which AI fields can be removed?
The cleaner handles metadata such as C2PA / Content Credentials, IPTC DigitalSourceType and generation parameters stored by tools such as Stable Diffusion or ComfyUI.
Can a social network still call the image AI-generated?
Yes. A platform may use its own classifier or pixel-level signals. Removing metadata changes the file's metadata, not a platform's independent judgment.
Can I inspect what was found before downloading?
Yes. Each result has a technical-details disclosure showing detected, removed, preserved and unsupported items.
